God’s Love is more than a Theology

God’s love should not be seen only from a place of theology. If God’s love is just a theology, there will be no life in you. If it’s just a theology to you, your life will be so dry and empty. God’s love is a reality that is meant to be direct. Sometimes we keep walking forward with God walking right behind us. There becomes a hesitation to turn around. He is standing right behind us, but for some reason we have such a hard time turning around. We promise God that we will do better, that we will work harder, and that we will try more. In the midst of our frantic attempts all God wants us to do is to turn around. To look Him in the face. To know His love as more than just a theology. He wants us to experience Him directly.

A Word to this Generation

We don’t have to come up with a bunch of new theologies. It seems like every time a new generation comes up within the body of Christ all of a sudden the old ways are not good enough. People feel like there has to be a new way of seeing things because there is something wrong with the old. This is not right. There are new moves of the Spirit, yes. There are glorious revelations taking place among believers, yes. This is not what I am talking about though. I’m talking about the basics.

There are things that everyone can grasp. The most basic absolutes that we need for everyday life are the simplest.

What is it in our generation that causes us to look at the basic principles of God and not be moved? Why do they no longer seem to be stirring us?

They no longer seem to be bringing the excitement or the passion or the life. So then we have to invent another way, another focus, another way to explain. And again I’m not saying that the Spirit does not move in different generations to bring things back around. I am saying that we have to realize the fleshly mindset that is connected with trying to invent new theologies, focuses or explanations.

This is a false spirit that is attempting to stir up emotion. So instead of trying to connect the Holy Spirit to our spirits it is causing a need to validate ones worthiness to be heard. It causes the individual to have to come up with a way to craft every word and to have to come up with a way to make everything sound so exciting to everyone and to package it just right so that people can get excited.

And if that were going to work the Church would have had to been evangelized to a multitude of times over. That is not the place that I believe the Lord is wanting to teach us. I believe that if we dig deep there is always more gold, but we can be completely deceived if we try to re-create the foundations of our faith.

Just Look to Jesus!

I think its ridiculous that people actually think they understand theology, and not only understand it, but also use it to create their faith. Since when is faith something we create? Seriously? Ridiculous. Faith should not be based on anything, but rather should be the basis on which we build our theology. But even this is missing the point. The point is not to construct a theology that suites our lives. Our mission should not be to “figure it out”. Thats not our mission. I think our theologies are more influenced by our feelings than we realize or would like to admit. Everyone needs to just look at His face. Have you seen the face of Jesus? Look at it! Look at His eyes of fire. Leaning on our own understanding to any extent is pure foolishness and will only lead to death. I hate impure religion. Spirit of revelation come! Spirit of wisdom come! Come on, Holy Spirit. Set us on fire.

Bad Theology

Our basic human nature always wants to have absolutes. It is the absolutes, that if not sought in humility and in submission to the holiness of God, can cause us to walk in intellectual pride. This sets us up for unhealthy extremes on one end or the other. I really believe that God made it that way because it was His desire that we would be unable to find truth apart from a relationship with Him. It is because of this that I hold strongly the belief that any theology that is sought after or believed out of pure intellectualism, out of the wrong spirit (pride, control, jealousy, anger, confusion, religious spirit, etc.), solely for the sake of unity (compromise), or without prayer is not credible and cannot be trusted.
